Calendar of EventsThe City of Poughkeepsie Main Street Farmers' Market provides quality food to customers of all income levels, support to local farmers and producers and a venue for positive community interaction in downtown Poughkeepsie. New in 2008!
These new programs are a perfect complement to growth in the market this year. Customers will find a wide variety of food choices at the market this year, including grass-fed meat, fresh-baked bread, local eggs, fruits, vegetables, baked goods and an array of hot lunch options. Musical performances made possible through the support of: June 6th: GRAND OPENING June 20th: HEALTH FAIR July 4th: KIDS' DAY July 18th: MERCADO LATINO August 15th: AFRO-CARIBBEAN FESTIVAL September 12th: HARVEST & ART FESTIVAL October 31st: FALL ENVIRONMENTAL FAIR Through these community events, the market hopes to provide the community with fun, family friendly activities, information regarding local social and recreational services, a forum to strengthen community bonds, cultural awareness and of course, local and accessible food. The City of Poughkeepsie Main Street Farmers' Market has more vendors, customers, sales and community events with each passing year. With fresh food, a feel-good atmosphere and a central location, the market attracts businesspeople, local residents, and visitors alike. Live music, theme days, cooking demonstrations and other events draw diverse customers. A variety of farm products and prepared foods are represented. Fees for vendors to participate are reasonable, and vendors' sales are supported through season-long publicity through multiple sources. |
