Questions about Sponsored Shares at the Poughkeepsie Farm ProjectWhat is Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA? A CSA offers our members fresh, healthy vegetables in return for a financial commitment over a period of time. CSA participants receive vegetables once a week throughout the growing season. What will I receive as a Poughkeepsie Farm Project CSA member? You will receive an average of 10 pounds of produce per week. The variety of produce changes with the season. We grow a range of vegetables including salad greens and lettuce, beets, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, strawberries, carrots, and potatoes. In the spring greens are plentiful, summer is heavy with favorites like zucchini, tomatoes and peppers, and in the fall we harvest potatoes and winter squash. How much will I pay for my vegetables? A typcial share costs $23 per week. A Sponsored Share costs between $6 and $14 per week, depending on what you can afford. Or you may arrange a different payment plan and receive your bills over email. You may make your payment each week when you pick up your vegetables. We accept food stamps. Is there any other commitment to buying a share? All CSA Shares require 12 hours of work on the Farm. These hours can be completed anytime May through October in four three-hour shifts. We have alternate work opportunities for those who are unable to do physically demanding work. If you are unable to work, contact us at (845) 473-1415. When will I receive my vegetables? You will receive your vegetables each week beginning at the end of May through early November. Where can I pick up my vegetables? You may pick up your vegetables at the farm (at the intersection of Hooker and Raymond Avenue in Poughkeepsie) on Tuesday between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. or Saturdays from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. Or you may pick up your vegetables at the Poughkeepsie Farmers Market downtown on Main Street between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
