Getting Involved with the Farm ProjectThe best way to get involved with the Farm Project is—of course!—to become a member. Regardless of membership status, you are welcome to attend our events, schedule a tour for your group or class, come see us at the Poughkeepsie Farmers' Market, and come volunteer in the field. We are open to drop-in field volunteers the following times, weather permitting:
Student OpportunitiesClick here to learn more Member OpportunitiesThe Poughkeepsie Farm Project is run as collaboration between members and two farm and program managers. Member volunteers work on all aspects of the Project from working in the fields and planning educational programming, o writing the newsletter and balancing the books. This provides ample ways for members to get involved in addition to CSA pick-up and working the 12 required member hours. Volunteer to help on one of our projectsWe rely on member volunteers to help us with a variety of projects including soup kitchen deliveries, developing our meditation garden, putting on PFP events, tabling at non-PFP public events, assisting with construction projects, making submissions to the newsletter, and being part of a phone tree. Please note your areas of interest on your membership form, or let the membership coordinator know hrough the farm website or phone number. Join a CommitteePFP Committees take on much of the day to day administrative work of the Farm Project. hey are chaired by a member of our Board of Directors and are made up of a combination of member volunteers and board members. Our current committees include Finance, Membership, Fundraising, Human Resources/Personnel, and Program/Long Range. If you have an interest in joining a committee, contact the committee chair (see Who We Are). Become one of our Member StaffSeveral key responsibilities at PFP are done by members who have taken on specific positions such as newsletter editor, food security liaison, or website management. Many of the positions count towards the 12 hour member hour requirement and some of them are work exchange jobs and receive a partial or full share. To find out whether any of these positions are open, contact he farm and program managers. Join our Board of DirectorsOur volunteer Board of Directors oversees he Poughkeepsie Farm Project by defining he mission and goals of the organization, ensuring adequate resources to accomplish he work, taking on the legal and fiscal responsibility for the Farm Project, and representing the PFP in the community. The monthly board meetings are open to all members. If you are interested in joining the Board, contact the human resources/personnel committee chair. |
