Join us on the Farm

Poughkeepsie Farm Project welcomes school and community groups to the farm throughout the season. We facilitate educational farm visits for learners of all ages. Sessions are typically two hours and include fun-filled, age-appropriate activities. Hands-on learning about food systems and biology ignites curiosity about the social and natural sciences. First-hand experiences cooking with fresh produce inspire and support healthy eating choices.

“Ever since visiting your farm, my son always asks for kale and wants to show me how to make the dish you taught him!”

Farm Visits for Kids

At Poughkeepsie Farm Project, students have the opportunity to be outdoors and connect to the land. We engage them in meaningful work that teaches them where their food comes from and why it is important. When youth have positive experiences growing and cooking vegetables, they are more likely to choose to eat them

Farm Visits for Adults

We offer tours, lectures, facilitated discussions and workshops for groups of adults, including college classes. Sessions can be adapted to interests of the group. Come learn about plant ecology and sustainable agriculture, community food security and seed saving.

Youth Grow  During Summer Farm Visits

Summer brings youth from several different summer camps and youth programs to the Poughkeepsie Farm Project for educational farm visits. The majority of them come from the City of Poughkeepsie and it is clear that the farm experience has an influential impact.  Read more about our farm visits!
