Sustainable agriculture is something that I have been passionate about for a while now and I am excited to be pursuing it further with the Poughkeepsie Farm Project. I have always considered myself an environmentalist. From when I biked to and from school in my hometown on Long Island, to serving as Wheaton College’s Student Sustainability Advocate, to teaching a Gardening Enrichment class at the Middle School in Boston I taught at last year, I have always sought to live and share my values of environmental stewardship. With all the polluting factory farms in operation, contributing to making locally-grown food more available to communities is one of the most impactful means to preserve our planet. The Hudson Valley is the perfect location to pursue agriculture and the Poughkeepsie Farm Project is the best farm to learn how to do food right, that is to say sustainably and accessible to everyone.
